Today I am going to start off the blog with the evolution genre of Behind Your Cover (BYC). BYC began with the first novel A Trip of One's Own by Kate Wills. This book dives into the empowering world and history of a solo female traveler (Kate Wills) and the fundamental meaning of what it means to be a female traveler. This book was great! It not only depicted the authors real-life experience of her travel journey but also gave insight on women travelers throughout history. This nonfiction narrative very much evolved from the nonfiction BYC is covering toady. Today, BYC nonfiction novels are of topics that encompass motivation and leadership along with learning. Although A Trip of One's Own displays lots of female leadership and motivation, the nonfiction evolution of BTC now focuses on biographies and practical advice from academic novels (e.g. How to Lead by David Rubenstein).
Personally, I don't think that this evolution is necessarily a good or bad thing. I think the evolution has made it harder to connect with others about the novel. The genres now are much more intense and more serious compared to what they previously were. I am not sure how I feel about this but if you have any suggestions, please lmk in the comments. I would love to know which books/novels you guys are interested in reading. ☺️
