The Edge of Falling
“No one can save you... not until you save yourself.” In On the Edge of Falling, we meet Caggie Caulfield, a once-popular Upper East Side teen haunted by grief, guilt, and the weight of her own secrets. After a tragic incident that shifts her entire identity, Caggie starts to spiral—pushing away friends, skipping school, and getting lost in a toxic relationship that dims her once-bright spark. But through the unraveling of her world, a fire—both literal and symbolic—becomes the moment of reckoning. It's only when Caggie is forced to let go of the physical remnants of her past that she finally finds the strength to reclaim herself and begin again. 🔥💔
Review
Okay girlies, this one? A whole journey. 💗
If you’re in the mood for a short but emotionally powerful read that mixes drama, romance, suspense, and transformation—this is it. 💅📖
What stood out to me most was the main character, Caggie 💘. She's such a strong and bright woman, even when she doesn’t feel that way. Her emotional depth felt so raw and real. You feel her pain, her confusion, and her longing for escape. She goes through so much—losing touch with her friends, skipping school, distancing herself from her family, and falling into a relationship that keeps her stuck in a version of herself that’s not true. 😢💔
I loved how the story didn’t sugarcoat her coping mechanisms. It showed how easy it is to get lost in grief and guilt—and how hard it is to climb out. But what really hit me was the symbolism of the fire at the end. The physical destruction of the past literally making room for healing?? ICONIC. 🔥✨ It’s in that moment you see Caggie start to breathe again, to believe again.
This book isn’t light. There are heavy topics—loss, trauma, mental health—but Rebecca Serle handles them with such sensitivity. It’s definitely the kind of book you’ll want to read if you’re in a reflective place or going through something tough. 🫶💭
What really stuck with me was this idea that you can’t always rely on someone else to save you. Sometimes, you have to be the one to take the first step. And that’s something I think so many of us need to hear. 💜💫
